connecting a ring to a transfer line

Hi,

How to connect the end of the ring to the beginning of a transfer line? For example, in the slow extraction of beams from synchrotron to a transfer line. There is an example given in the link: https://github.com/MethodicalAcceleratorDesign/madx-examples/tree/master/ptc_twiss/Example1

But I am not clear on this. Do you need to use translation only or rotation only or both in beam phase space co-ordinates going from the end of the ring to the beginning of a transfer line? Thank you.
