Proxy manager should allow dashes

you cant set the address to one that has dashes or underscores

Why would you use - or _ in an IP address?

is there some proxy service which uses DNS? that seems very inefficient ( but _ is not even a legal character in hostnames )

yeah services like liquidproxy

at least for now, you can just run the DNS query yourself (with a command-line tool or one of the 500 ad-filled websites which do it)
