Switch offline / online collections maybe pause RemoteMethods?

Is it possible to switch a collection between offline and online mode or to pause execution of remote methods?

Basically I want to be able to have a collection behave as offline in the event that the user is not logged in.

But as soon as the user logs in they then their queued up methods are run remotely. This would then let their data get backed up via inserts etc.
