blank screen immediately after install - onboarding flow does not automatically display

Describe the bug After installing the extension, users will not see the "Welcome to MetaMask Get Started". The MetaMask extension is hidden by the browser AND the screen is a blank screen. This is likely very confusing for new users.

Steps to reproduce (REQUIRED) Steps to reproduce the behavior, libraries used with version number, and/or any setup information to easily reproduce:

1. install MM extension
2. watch the screen go blank
3. click the extension icon in the toolbar for the onboarding flow to load.

Expected behavior Onboarding flow "get started" page should load immediately

@dpazdan having the same issue on Firefox 90.0.2 in Windows 10.
