Sync error when application is in online/offline mode.
Description Sync button does not work after restart of application and switching from offline/airplane mode to online mode. No warning or error message shows.
When syncing a project on IOS in offline/airplane mode, the app provides no visible warning message (no toast/banner). When the app is back in online mode, Sync functionality does not work and no warning message is displayed.
Environment PROD
Application (+ app version, build, operating system)
Device/OS: IPhone 13/ IOS 26.0 - App version: 2025.7.0 (build 804311) Device/OS: Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Android 15 - App version: 2025.7.0 (build 719411)
Steps to reproduce
- Open Mergin Maps app and log in with credentials while in online mode
- Switch the device to offline mode, close and restart the app.
- Go back into the app, open the project and record a new feature with a photo.
- Tap Sync button
- Observe the functionality of Sync and visibility of warning messages in offline mode
- Switch the device back to online
- Sync. project to server
- Observe the functionality of Sync and visibility of warning messages in online mode
Actual results
No sync occurs after returning to online mode. No warning message is displayed, leaving the user without feedback. The App appears unresponsive to the sync action.
Expected results
Online mode Sync function should upload the data / sync project to the server. The notification “”successfully synchronized” should be displayed.
Offline/Airplane Mode An error message “Failed to synchronise your changes)” should be displayed. Sync function should be disabled and does not sync project to server.
I'm quite confident that this bug is in production too. The way around was to switch projects when you get back to online mode. Could you check if this is true?
