Display a more useful information than FID in the attribute table
When I browse attribute table, for each feature I see two lines:
The upper part (e.g. Tower Bridge) can be configured in QGIS (Layer Properties > Display) to show a field or an expression. But the lower part just displays Feature ID number. I think it would be a better idea of using the space to show some sensible information like:
- Existing labels for the feature if it is configured
- Some common field names (e.g. name, type, etc. I think there is a list for them in QGIS).
- A tool in QGIS plugin to configure it by user
+1, it really makes sense to implement this.
Let the project administrator decide what is displayed.
Hi @cxcandid can you please share with us what kind of data you'd be using this description field for?
It's different data we would like to display, specific IDs or unique names. But I cannot see why this is important for you? The feature ID is usually not relevant to our users.

Hi @cxcandid, thanks for the reply! I am trying to understand if there is some pattern in what customers would like to see as description.
