Idea: change default behaviour when selecting record after search (i,e., open form 1st instead)
the function to search the contents of a layer is very powerful and flexible in mergin maps on a field device but once you select a record in the filtered list, you are immediately taken to the feature location if it is a spatially-enabled layer.
if you chose the wrong record then you have to select layers again, re-enter search terms and try again
it would be more functional, if the feature form would open first so that one could read through the details, see photo etc. then choose to zoom to the location if desired by clicking a zoom/pan to button on the bottom of the form
if it wasn't the correct record the user was looking for they could back out of the form and choose the next one or change their search terms.
I agree with this behavior. Even when search is not used, if the user clicks a feature on the list it zoom it in the map. For many cases it will be better to just open the form.
Thanks for the feedback! So you'd like to see the fullscreen form instead - skipping the preview (maptip)?
I think the most important improvement would be a back button that the user could press to go back to the search that they were doing in the layers window
currently, when you click the record in your layer of interest in the layers window it nicely jumps to a split screen view of location and attributes. But you currently can't go back quickly and instead have to start your search from the beginning in the layers window
