Support for stylus and freehand drawing
iOS and Android devices can use stylus for interacting with the app. Would be good to support them in Input.

I had a very helpful Google Meet troubleshooting session re Mergin and Input app with your very nice colleague Radek Pasiok today, and he suggested that if I was interesting in this particular functionality, I should let you know here.
So yes, I think this functionality would assist me greatly in cutting down QGIS digitizing time in the office for some of my projects. I would like to be able to use the stylus for my tablet to freehand draw bird flight-lines in the field (in Input) during bird surveys.
Currently while in the field, I collect my data by freehand drawing flight-lines on a PDF map of the site I am surveying (please see attached file for reference) and entering the attribute data attribute into an Excel spreadsheet. I then manually digitize the flight lines in QGIS by tracing them from the PDFs and manually entering the attribute data for each line. If I could do all of this in the field on Input and just need to make minor adjustments to symbology etc in the office, it would save hours!
What is the possibility of this functionality being created for Input anytime soon?

MapCanvas is already prepared for this, we just need a bunch of buttons
Sounds promising Peter. Forgive me though, I’m not sure what this means 😬 I’m assuming it means you’re nearly there with the development of this feature? Do you have a timeline by any chance? Thanks. Sarah
We do not have timeline for this yet, but fortunately stylus support should be now easier to implement.

Any advancement on the development of this feature? Next week I will start a breeding bird survey at a large wind farm for the summer and being able to freehand draw bird flight lines onto maps in the field would be very helpful for my work.

Hi Sarah, this is not on our roadmap for this year yet. Please contact me at [email protected] in case you have some funds for development this feature and would like to discuss the commercial implementation.
Also requested by RJ Connors for distinguishing land use, soils, vegetation etc with base map imagery while out in the field easier
