Submenu collapse on mobile phones when clicked on a submenu item

When you create a side menu, it collapses for mobile phones. The submenu is overlayed beside the menu (over the main form). For mobile devices the submenu is not collapsed when focused out of this overlayed submenu for good reasons.

When I click on that submenu I would like to have both the menuaction be done, and that submenu cleared from the main form. The only way now to clear it is bij clicking somewhere on the main form.

Is there a simple way to achieve this?

Can you clarify what submenu you mean? A Dropdown menu, or a Bar menu?
