[feature suggestion] Ability to change tasks in timeline edit mode

Open ClaymeCall opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Hello ! I would like to discuss something about task editing. signal-2024-05-30-162708_002

When in this menu, I can delete or edit past tasks in the timeline. However, I noticed that when editing, the only changeable properties of a task are time and date. I think it would be useful to be able to change the name, and the task type in the edit submenu. Currently, to do exactly this, we have to delete the task while remembering the start time, then insert a new one instead.

A concrete use case for this feature is when I pause the current task using this button : Timetomepausebutton

When pressing the pause button, the current task switches to "Other", and a button for resuming the paused task appears. But later in the day, I may want to be more specific about the task I did that paused the initial one.

To do this, we currently have to do as I described earlier (deleting the "Other", and replace it with the desired task at the same start time), while simply being able to modify task types in the timeline edit mode would be more straightforward.

Let me know what you think ! Thanks for your work

Editing the history is something I plan to completely redesign including the features you suggest.

P.S. Unfortunately, I broke an arm and won't be able to make releases or respond to issues for a few weeks. So, don't think I stopped contributing to the project. :)
