[Feature Request] Please bring back the emoji coding of goals/activities!!!!
Emoji coding was the feature I heavily and fully relied on. Realised this acutely only after they were gone. It was the only way I could quickly choose a task from my task folders. As the folders are not sorted by name or activity, but by date, while quickly scrolling through them to fish out the task I needed I looked at the emojis to determine which activity it belongs to, then the first letter and then the timer duration! Once the emojis were gone, my folders became a hot mess, I don't know where my tasks are anymore, even the today ones. I'm now forced to READ all the names!!! It takes me, like, several times more time now to only find the task, I now heavily use the separate goal "what's next" for that! It became really tempting to just stop tracking altogether because who's got time to spend 10+ minutes choosing what to do next? In other words, it became nearly impossible for me to even use the task features.
It got so bad I'm seriously thinking on deleting the app.
Before you could say "but you can manually rename your tasks to add emojis to them", no way I'm gonna do that to the hundreds of tasks that have accumulated in my folders in over a year of being a fidel user of this app. I renamed some of the repeating ones I do daily but that's it.
I think one possible, albeit not perfect, substitution to this could be a possibility to sort the tasks in the folders by name or/and ~~activity~~… I mean goal! And by duration. It would bring some order to them.
Or make the tasks color-coded (e.g. with a small stripe of color before or after the name) instead of emoji-coded. Still, the colors are more limited than the emojis and a lot of them would look too similar in a tiny strip. Nothing will beat the small icons, whether they are emojis or some other icon library, in efficiency and practicality.
And if the reason you removed them were people who complained about the visual clutter, you can make it toggle on and off.
It may not look like from my walls of text that it's harder for me to read than to look at pictures, but the app itself says I spent 3 hours writing these, idk whether it's long or not by human standards.
I plan to mark tasks with a color corresponding to the goal. Also I plan to make a filter by goal.
While I personally have a separate task management system, I still have some repeating tasks on timeto and it was a hassle to manually add emojis to everything. The good part of that was being able to add 2 emojis for certain tasks. But I do get that if someone has more tasks than its kind of too much. Emojis for me are essential and I have them on my project management tools as well.
Toggle-able 'Identifier" for goals potentially could be the way to go. You can add any text, emoji, unicode symbol, as the identifier for any goal. And every task for it starts with the ID (<ID>
This maybe could also help with the cluttering in the homescreen. instead of a full goal text users can set so the homescreen only shows the ID of the goal. But the full text shows up in the history section
ID like this should also be visible everywhere, not some places only as was the case with previous emojis (see: https://github.com/Medvedev91/timeto.me/issues/148)
I plan to mark tasks with a color corresponding to the goal. Also I plan to make a filter by goal.
Please do the color thing in a way that it applies to all the old tasks as well, not only newly created!🙏🏻
