Hey Max,

on a high level feedback. Your thesis still seems (as most thesis do in the beginning) a little bit unfocused (especially when looking at your related work an research links. A lot of topics you are opening. In order to make things worse I thought this link might be useful for you: https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/lightning-dev/2016-January/000403.html I think Joseph Poon pretty much describes a solution that you want to be part of lightning within the scope of your Bachlor thesis.

The good news: As far as I understand the suggestions by Josph Poon never made it to the Protocol so there is actually room to spec this out (:

good luck and have fun !

In case I missed the point with my link. Sorry!

best regards Rene

That's great, Rene, I didn't go back through the mailing list this far - thanks for bringing it to my attention. Yes, the research is currently all over the place, there seem to be several possible approaches, and I don't know yet which one might be preferable...

Require 2-of-3 R-value preimages (from 3 hashes) in order for the HTLC to be fulfilled. For each hop in the payment, it requires this 2-of-3 condition.

Does this mean that every node on the route needs to understand and work with the multisig protocol? Can it be adapted that a "regular 2-of-2" looks identical than a "multisig 2-of-3"?

Might @JoostJager have a very similar concept with HODL-HTLC? https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/pull/2022

Thanks again for your support and for linking the mail - really useful! Let's make sure we fledge out this concept and implement it with lightning speed :)
