Where do you take power from?

Hi,

Doing a similar thing on my dl380e gen8, but without Arduino and PWM. Just bought silent fans. They work fine if I take power from PCI socket and shortcut pins 4-6 on the fan socket. But I didn't manage to power the fans from the fan socket itself (pin 1 and 4/5/6 short). Any suggestions?
