Extreme latency while using LANmic

I'm using LANmic because IP Webcam has some sort of high audio threshold so my voice gets cut off.

I am port forwarding via ADB and connecting to localhost:8080, as described. The issue is, I have a latency of anywhere between 3 to 8 seconds depending on the codec I choose. This shouldn't be an issue at all because it's going over a cable, why is that?

After a bit more testing, the rtsp mode (with AAC, not an option in the http mode) has very little latency even without a USB cable. For some reason using rtsp over a usb "connects" in virtualmic but produces no audio.
