At various points across the configurations pass4SymmKey is written plainly.

This is disastrous for publicly exposed infrastructure, and problematic for internal infrastructure. For each of the controlling repos, link_new_apps.sh should be reworked to accept repo secrets and template out the sensitive configuration.
