Conversion Metrics
We need to ensure we achieve significant conversion of new users to whom we advertise before we start scaling up advertisement. This means we need to look at metrics across several levels, find our weak spots, and optimize those. This issue will be used for tracking these metrics until they have reached a satisfactory score. Our main goal is actively participating players, we are not optimising for profit.
Reddit Ads ($50 / day)
Google Ads ($50 / day)
For reference, our initial landing page looks as:
Analysis from first AB test, which was mostly to test AB-functionality. Tried moving screenshots higher on landing page, which did not result in increase of conversions:
Next experiment was not having audio auto-play. I'm ending this one early as well, as it seems evident that this is not where we are going to get a huge boost. Potentially could be re-run again at a later stage:
A different layout could help. The site does look very old-fashioned for nostalgic reasons but if we're looking at other browser-based MMOs, they have move away from this format of presentation.
We followed a nostalgic approach to presenting the game, aiming to appeal to older players. However, perhaps we need to structure the game in a way that aligns with how browser-based games are presented in the modern era.

I've already planned to do extensive testing of also radical landing page designs. The in-game layout is of course also in scope, but let's start with the landing page, which is free to be different from the in-game layout. I've set up a competition to get some inspiration from the community on the matter: https://discord.com/channels/1080832341234159667/1115896622551932969/threads/1414117208325488752

If you have the time I think going to these two sites can help us: https://ninjutsu-kaisen.com/ https://www.ninjamanager.com/
I believe someone is more likely to click on ninjutsu-kaisen and stay because how they present things are done a bit better than us, even though we have better systems and content. Their presentation is better and feels modern.
A clean landing page can help, I've asked Wolfi to make a more softer opening theme so not blast your ears when you login.
We can use our features and record fights with animations that we have to showcase the battle grid. I believe our map really needs alot of work but thats for something else.

I agree with the logic, but we'll have to test things, since this stuff is sometimes unintuitive, see e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Toonu-cTE60&t=146s .. when AmeDot comes up with a design, let's try it out and see how well it converts :D
AB test for new button placement on landing page is done, seems to give an improvement, so we'll keep it:
This is the new landing page that was tested
Surely plenty of room for improvement still, but let's wait for AmeDot on this for now. Next AB test will be the new music from Wolfi
New welcome music results resulted in about a 8.3% lift compared to normal with 80% chance of being correct
Still, only brings us from 3.2% conversion to 3.4%..
Adding the actual number of active users does not not seem to be better than stating users over the last 20 years
@MathiasGruber Hey can you check your DMs please it's urgent
Experiment on simplifying landing page:
Primarily was expected to improve mobile conversions - desktop looks kinda funky, but still "simpler"
Results were no real difference on mobile, however desktop degraded significantly. Going to revert.

Next layout test was a failure
The addition of iOS / android buttons without having links to the app stores (i.e. PWA install instructions instead) was not a good idea. Will run another test without the buttons, but still the other layout improvements

Probably could have advise you on that one, if people see the buttons they want to actually click it or they go searching in the app store.
