Playback controls on KDE Plasma taskbar
KDE allows you to control playback of applications from the taskbar, that means, play, pause, previous, next, repeat, shuffle, etc. But Tidal-HiFi doesn't have that currently, at least on the Flatpak version (I haven't tested the AppImage).
I recall Spotify's Flatpak also had this issue, but I'm not sure it is actually a Flatpak issue, or if it is something that needs to be enabled/implemented for Flatpak apps.
I don't know if it's a flatpak thing. If it is we have a separate repo for that specific package: https://github.com/flathub/com.mastermindzh.tidal-hifi
Did you enable mpris? It's available in the settings:
Yes I have MPRIS enabled.
I should have mentioned that it works on the media applet of KDE:
Although it shows twice there and with a generic icon instead of Tidal's icon.
Here's where these controls should also be showing up but isn't:
Also the volume slider shown here is the wrong one like I mentioned in #704
Oh that would depend on your system I think. I have no idea how KDE adds those buttons, we've just integrated standard MPRIS controls, and it seems that's not enough to be picked up here.
Might be some KDE specific thing. Do you know how you can get controls there in any app or no?
I don't know how to do it, but there is this open issue on Spotify's Flatpak Manifest that seem to have some info about it.
Yeah, seems they also use mpris and it doesn't work. From what I understand from it is that KDE searches for specific names and their concern (i.m.o rightly so) is that they don't want to call their app "Spotify". I also chose a specifically different name for this app just to be safe.
I see, it's not that big of a deal to not have the buttons since I can still control it from my keyboard shortcuts and from the music applet (although it would be nice to have the applet only show one entry for the app, instead of twice). Hopefully that's something that can be easily implemented in the future.
Hey @RondoRevolution ,
unfortunately it's KDE (and others) scanning for "open media sources", and Electron/Chromium just makes itself known. I have tried to disable it in the past but didn't have much luck unfortunately :/
