Mapping to gamepad inverts control stick controls

When you press certain angles a bug arises where the controls will go in the opposite direction. Other than this once mistake mapping to the gamepad is perfect. I tried mapping both a gamecube controller via usb and a smash brother adapter and a wii remote to n64 and in both cases the controls will invert. Other people I have talked to have reported this issue.
