Change "lending perspective"

Open VibrantTreeStump opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

I am always confused by the UI because in almost all other programs the colour red indicates that I have debt (negative balance on my side) and the colour green indicates that I get money (positive balance on my side) and it's exactly the other way around in this program.

It would be super nice to be able to reverse the colours to remove this confusion.

Another thing I'd like to suggest is changing the perspective of how things are lent. I am always looking at things from my perspective, so it's slightly confusing if in the app it says "Friend lent me" instead of "I got from friend" and "Friend got from me" instead of "I lent to Friend".

That second thing is a bit more work, so I get if it's denied, but maybe other people (who can code) feel the same way as me.

Hi @VibrantTreeStump , see #30 regarding the color issue (I plan to add an option here).

Regarding the wording I do not yet understand, what exactly you feel should be different (which screen? what should be changed?)

Could you please elaborate on this?

On this screen: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Marmo/debitum/master/fastlane/metadata/android/en-US/images/phoneScreenshots/03_en_light_items.png

it says

Ponder Stibbons gave Zwerge

which is a description of what someone else did.

I would change it to

Zwerge lent from Ponder Stibbons

because it describes what I did, so it lists items from my perspective. Meaning: I gave it to someone, so I am going to get it back & I lent it from someone, so I have to give it back

Also this would change the focus from the people who gave and lent stuff to the things that were given/lent.

Understood, thank you. Seems reasonable to me. When I have time again to work on this app, I will play around a bit to see how the screens would look and then decide.

The colours are indeed something that initially confused me. I got used to it quickly though. But I agree on the confusion part.

Alert! This may change the default transaction type from "Money Out" to "Money In" (received/gave).

So, if it is ever decided, please keep "Money Out" as the default transaction type.

Or, provide an option for default selection.
