Support inline text expansion

Unlike tool tips or popovers, text expanded inline can be included in the printout.

We have thus far had multiple exploratory PRs targeting this issue, but given that it has been an outstanding issue for 7+ years now, I think we should either tackle it ASAP or close the issue (preferably the former).
