Export/import settings
Is there a way to import/export all the settings? Could it be done manually by accessing files or databases?
It could be useful for mapping campaigns with a pre-configured app and presets already available. But maybe, it is not permitted by Android. I'm not familiar with it.
In principle it would be possible to dump all preferences to a file and read them back in, but it would seem to be a bit overkill (as you probably would never want to change 90% of them).
Presets can already be downloaded and installed by clicking on appropriate links on device in the browser, the question is what else would be likely to be changed?
For example, our current tutorial for setup includes these steps:
- selection of a specific layer
- remove all other layers (tasks, ...)
- deactivate notifications for local tasks
- activate the mode simple
- activate the auto download of the nodes
- add a remote preset
- filter on the preset
And we can also imagine this:
- default hashtag (#..._mapping_campaign) in the comment of a changeset
- preloading the layer for a specific region (For offline mapping)
but I don't know if it is currently possible.
If we could automate this configuration, these new users could directly learn how to map and map directly. This would be very convenient for our mapping campaign with new users. Later, they could adapt these settings if needed.
Another use case is when changing phone or when uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
I too would really appreciate this feature, I must have thousands of edits in Vespucci at this point (I love to hike, and I love to map what I see!) - and setting everything up the way I like it, especially custom layers, takes a long time when I get a new phone.
This feature would be greatly useful. Thank you!
