Blur no longer works on 25H2
Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is:
My PC updated overnight and the actual blur component itself no longer works.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Install DWMBlurGlass on Windows 11, 25H2, model 2600.7171

Additional information (please complete the following information):
OS Version : [e.g. Windows 11 23H2.22631.3085] Software Version : [e.g. 2.0.1] Windows 11 25H2.2600.7171 2.3.1 What other third-party software do you use: [e.g. windhawk mods xxx]
Windhawk, Winaero tweaker & StartAllBack
Additional context Add any other context about the problem here. I'm aware of the border transparency issues Windhawk can cause but I wasn't experiencing them before this update, and I'm not using any mods that would ALSO affect the titlebar and/or dwm's ability to make my taskbar transparent.
I've repeatedly re-installed everything, changed the blur settings, deleted and re-installed symbol files etc, nothing has worked.
The effects worked correctly until I installed the latest update to Win11 25H2 (KB5068861). Interestingly, this bug seems to only affect standard titlebars. Custom titlebars or apps with transparent background such as the header of explorer.exe, powertoys run etc. have their transparency effects applied correctly.
Notice how the MC launcher, SystemInformer and Winver, which use the default titlebar, aren't blurred, but Windows Exporer, task manager and Powertoys run, which all handle the window layout including titlebar in a custom way are properly blurred.

Same thing now happening for me. For me, it works on explorer, snipping tool and winver, but not on audacity, sdrsharp, windows media player etc.
ijiasdisa may I ask where have you found the theme or how you managed to achieve it? I just can't find the correct resources to get 1 step closer to Windows 7 look and feel
Blur also broke for me after installing KB5068861 (26100.7171) yesterday. I do not have the 25H2 update installed.
Related issue: #608.

Are you talking about the UX theme itself? I used Aero11, which is also on GitHub.
Same here. Windows updated today and it broke my blur...

Just like @SomeDudex64 I can confirm updating 24H2 to 26100.7171 breaks blur partially. Everything with a custom titlebar works fine but "normal" window titlebars are transparent.
I rolled back KB5068861, and now my effects are working again. I am going to pause updates for a month and then check again.
I hope this gets fixed soon
same but on 24h2
Try this temporary solution; it's not the same, but you can adjust the blur intensity from DWMBlurGlass:

Been trying this for months, only actually worked once, and it ruined my explorer UI... for some reason it was messing around with my brightness settings.
Starting to lose patience with DWMBlurGlass as well. Think I'm gonna switch over to OpenGlass when it gets patched for 25h2, it feels like Maplespe just doesn't care anymore.

I don't know if it also depends on the themes, but that brightness problem is because the advanced options are enabled in the file explorer process rules. And I'll also switch to OpenBlur when it's available for 25H2.
Windows 11, version 25H2 (26200.7296) Could some good Samaritan test it to see if it's working again in this version?
Hello, my apologies for being off topic but would you mind going into depth about how you achieved that Windows 7 look? I understand you used the Aero11 theme as a base but what Windhawk mods, settings etc? It looks amazing! I've tried in the past but could never get it quite right on Windows 11.

I just replicated it, and although there are minor details that aren't exactly the same, you can use the following Windhawk mods:
Resource Redirect: In settings, scroll to the bottom of the list where the Pane7 icon pack will appear.
Bring Back the Borders! Read the configuration instructions.
In my case, I use StartAllBack with Windows 7 themes for the taskbar and Start menu. And for the Aero effect, I finally decided to use OpenGlass; you can read the installation documentation. If you have 25H2, you have to install it via the command prompt. I still have a small problem with the title bar's coloring; it's not completely transparent as I'd like.
Registry config (openglass):

I used this video for the UX theme itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqKw_KCIGK4
Along with these windhawk mods:
And I used StartAllBack to re-add the Explorer ribbon. For some reason DWMBlurGlass only works with StartAllBack half of the time so usually I'll just manually edit my wallpaper by adding a gaussian blur to the bottom of the image and then setting my taskbar colouring to transparent.

Tried it on 26200.7296, it's still only partial, and it does not blur; it is transparent.
I have this happening also; already tried resetting/reinstalling/redownload symbols etc. Also like others have mentioned things with "custom" blur like Explorer seem fine; I'm also using ExplorerBlurMica and the whole Explorer window is still properly blurred from that.
Updating to DWMBlurGlass 2.3.2 Beta 1 fixed this! Initially the issue was still there but I noticed I was still running on the latest available Windows 11 24H2 build and Windows Update didn't show 25H2 as available to me. Upon manually installing the Enablement Package from here: https://catalog.sf.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com/filestreamingservice/files/67731ce0-1988-426a-afa3-044a032eb6c6/public/windows11.0-kb5054156-x64_9fd13360d2c5af23ec4f591b86f1c1db37aada37.msu my system was rebooting and is now running 25H2 Build 26200.7171 and the broken blur is fixed!
There's a tiny bug where the blur will only render about one second after any given window is created but that's a very minor bug.
Thank you so much @Maplespe and @ALTaleX531 for the great work and continuing to invest time into difficult projects like DWMBlurGlass, both of you are very much appreciated!
