Remove Project Deletion as an Option for Project Editors
Feature Description
We would like to see the ability to delete a project removed from Project Editors (those added to a project by a Project Creator or site Admin using the Grant Editor Permissions button). Project Editors should have the ability to continue to add/delete texts within a project and edit metadata. We would like their ability to delete the entire project removed. Projects should be deleted only by the Project Creator or the site Admin.
Why is this feature important? Who does it help?
We have used Manifold as a tool for student to contribute resources and their own writings to a create a open class project. To do this, students create Reader accounts and are added to the Project as Editors. We recently discovered the hard way that as Editors, they have the ability to delete the entire class project.
User Stories
We recently had a course of over 200 students added as Project Editors to a Manifold project. Student were to add images and texts in small groups to the project. Three days before the course assignment was due, a student trying to delete and reload a text, accidentally deleted the entire Manifold project. The project had to be recreated, site Admins and the instructor had to add over 200 students back to the Manifold project, and students who had already loaded their content into Manifold had to reload it. It was a real mess. Thanks for considering this update!
