Allow Ingestion via REST API with a simple one-step interface
Following the discussion at https://manifold-community.slack.com/archives/C8LFMHM0X/p1636035666015300 it became clear that ingestions via Swagger RESTful API is currently not possible. The API does not trigger the necessary events in the "state machine of the ingestion model". This capacity would need to be added to the RESTful API
Since ingestion via RESTful API turns into a rather complex process (POSTing against the api/files
endpoint, POSTing agains the ingestion endpoint ...) it might be helpful to have these steps merged behind 1 endpoint method.
Thank you for taking the time to open this feature request. The Manifold team reviewed this issue during our bi-weekly meeting and the consensus is that this feature makes sense and is in keeping with our overall vision for the platform. Moreover, we see this request as a viable candidate for development under our current available funding. We’re adding an “accepted” label to this request to indicate that it’s within scope and possibly within budget.
The next step is for us to estimate the work involved with this and add it to our feature backlog. Our acceptance of the issue is not a promise that it will be implemented. We will balance this request against the other accepted requests and do our best to implement it within our current available funding.
This was an automated message, but please don't hesitate to reply. Our team watches these issues closely and will respond as soon as we're able to!
Is there already a plan for implementing this issue. In Slack at that time you considered that it could become part of 6.2 but it seems that this was too optimistic :D I am asking because we are planing our next milestones for our pipeline and wonder if should or should not consider implementing the use of the API.
I will not refrain from saying that being able to ingest and re-ingest text's via API/our own cli-tool would mean one of the biggest improvements in terms of saving manual labour time.
We're going to try to get this into v8. No promises, but it's on my radar.
