All users to define project templates
I find I'm often confronted with needing to create a series of projects that will all be constructed in the same fashion. In those situations, having a template that I could define and apply as a user would be useful and save considerable time.
For example, I'm creating fifteen projects for a virtual conference. All of these projects will use these blocks in this order:
- Hero
- TOC
- Metadata
Further, I know that the Hero block will contain four calls-to-action situated on the right, titled w, x, y, z. I also know that the TOC block should carry this title.
When a user creates a new project now, they are provided a handful of prompts to help them architect a structure for the project. What I am describing here would be an enhancement of that.
Instead of automatically going to the prompts I see that Layout
section having three options:
- Basic. User advances without setting any layout options—they know what they want and will get to it when they're ready.
- Guided. What we have now, which provides users a sense of what's possible and gives them a solid starting point.
- Advanced. What I'm describing in this issue where I configure layout scheme and save it for me and other users to use.
Ooh, I do like the idea of a template and am intrigued with the option to save it for others to use beyond the project or collection I'm editing. This would be wonderful for our effort in hosting a journal in Manifold.
