avoid flash when switching pages

I first noticed the flash when exec'ing a sub-tydra ala #7 and thought it was unavoidable, but now I am noticing it when switching static pages as well, where it should be possible to switch without any intermediate terminal updates (I say with confidence, not knowing the many scary details about terminal control)

I don't get any screen blinks when switching pages in Wezterm or Kitty.

Maybe this is terminal-specific?
