Open justserdar opened this issue 7 months ago • 4 comments

Replaces #837 Reason of redoing: Proper branch

Description

Created a func that returns providers and gives the option to change the default model.

  1. Installed ollama-ai-provider.
  2. Updated libs/ai-providers.
  3. Replaced existing AI composition functions.
  4. Added env's and default example api url of ollama (never forget /api behind the port).

Improvements:

  • Pull available models from ollama model list endpoint (using tags) and only allow those.

Let me know what you think, this needs further UI tooling so we can actively change it. It's best we add that pull model list from ollama instance before and show it in a dropdown:

  • Dropdown for provider selection
  • Dropdown for the models

Walkthrough

The changes introduce Ollama as a new, configurable AI provider alongside existing providers. A new utility module centralizes AI model instantiation, allowing dynamic selection between OpenAI, Google, and Ollama models. Environment variables for Ollama configuration are added, and all relevant code paths are updated to use the new provider-agnostic interface. The Ollama AI provider package is added as a dependency. No changes are made to exported function signatures or public APIs.

Changes

File(s) Change Summary
.env.example Added OLLAMA_BASE_URL and OLLAMA_TOKEN environment variables for Ollama integration.

Poem

In the warren, code hops anew,
With Ollama’s models joining the crew!
A single call, the model appears,
No more hardcoding—let’s give three cheers!
From .env to package, the changes are tight,
Now AI selection is dynamic and light!
