Transformers don't seem to transfer energy

I had a Standart power tier solar panel feeding into a LV Transformer and then into a bat box, but the transformer didn't give out power from any of it's sides.

Steps to reproduce the behavior: Have a source of power (solar panel in my case) connected through any transformer to a power storage: (ahem) 1.Put an advanced solar panel onto a copper cable 2.Connect the cable to the 5 dotted side of a LV Transformer 3.Connect any other side of the transformer to a bat box with tin cables 4.Watch as you get no power in the storage

Expected behavior: Power would go through the transformer into the connected power storage
