Minecraft forums shutting down...

So it looks like Fandom announced a couple of days ago that they will be shutting down the Minecraft forums (MinecraftForums.net). While the forums for the mod aren't the most active, people do still use them. ::sigh::

Woah. Did not see that one coming. But there is one positive. Remember those "last poster wins" games? We will have a winner soon.

Not much of a positive really considering the alternatives. However, the writing was on the wall when the announcement came that Fandom was buying Curse Media. Wasn't long after that they purged about a million users and 10 million posts. This was the next logical progression.

Oh noes, there goes "our" plan to humiliate effortless bug report people. D:<

More likely that the number of effortless bug reports will increase here.

Well, we got the issue template thing working now, so hopefully that'll help.

(Obviously feel free to edit those templates if needed.)

It seems plans have been changed: https://www.minecraftforum.net/news/60728-a-new-and-exciting-beginning

As of this week, we’ve identified a company with the necessary experience to buy and run these sites (including the Minecraft Forum), so that the passionate communities will continue to have homes on these long-standing sites. With this, we have started to transfer the sites to Magic Find.

It just means they’ve decided to sell off the underperforming assets while there’s still money to be made, likely because the forums in an archived state wouldn’t be making enough. It’s just a business decision, nothing else. As for who the buyer is, Tapatalk comes to mind as a likely candidate.

“Magic Find” 🤨 seriously?
