Describe your idea clearly and concisely.

Organize presets into three groups:

1. Presets that exactly match the number of roads and points of the selected node.
2. Presets that match the number of roads, but not the number of points, of the selected node.
3. All other presets.

Given a selected node where a 3-lane highway splits into two 2-lane highways:

Best Fit

• Split 3-lane into two 2-lanes with one marked as an exit
• Split 3-lane into two 2-lanes with neither marked as an exit

Possible Fit

• Split 3-lane into 2-lane and 1-lane
• 3-lane with 1-lane exit

Nonfitting

• 4-way asymmetrical 4+2 lane with double left-turn all directions
• Transition from divided 4-lane to undivided 2-lane

Of course, in real-world use, both fitting groups would often have some irrelevant presets, but it would still be an overall usability improvement.

Why would this idea be a good addition to IMT?

Better usability for large collections of presets.
