Describe your idea clearly and concisely.

In real life, chevrons always point in the direction of traffic. In a lane diverge, it works fine - the chevron point starts at the beginning, and points outward. But in merges, they're backward, and so you end up with a bunch of incomplete/cropped V shapes.
