Make MacDown open links in the same window

Open sg-s opened this issue 7 years ago • 8 comments

In document 1, if I have a link like this:

[wow so link](./document2.md)

clicking on that should open document2.md in the same window, like a browser.

I think this small change would make a huge improvement, and make MacDown more powerful as it makes it into effective wiki-replacement

But… what happens to your current document? What if it’s unsaved?

some suggestions:

  1. it only does this when editor panel is hidden. when the editor is visible, it behaves as it does now.
  2. if documents are unsaved, it displays a dialog to save it
  3. if documents are unsaved, it opens a new window

thoughts?

I think "new window" option is more intuitive. This feature should apply only to Markdown files, identified by filename extension.

I would like to see this as an option and I would vote for if the option is enabled, then when you click on a link to open a new file from a file with an unsaved buffer, you are prompted to save or discard your changes. Once you make that choice, you are immediately sent to the new file in the same window.

If this feature was able, MacDown could be used to build nice Wikis. Opening links on different windows is not desirable for that user case IMHO.
