Preview pane hidden and no option to restore it.
Try this:
- Open a .md file in MacDown [Don't do this with a file you care about!]
- Hide the preview pane (Shift-Command-H)
- Close the window (Command-W)
- Open the same file again
When I do this, the preview pane is now permanently hidden: The "Restore Preview Pane" item in the View Menu is missing, and Shift-Command-H has no effect. It's specific to the file; other files still have their preview panes. But whenever I open this file again, I can't preview it.
How to I get the preview back? I assume there's some state being cached, but I tried quitting MacDown, removing ~/Library/Preferences/*macdown*, ~/Library/Caches/*macdown* and ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/*macdown* and relaunching, but there's still no preview pane. Is there something else I can clear?
Thanks!
I think you can put the cursor at the right (or left, if you put the editor on the right) edge of the window, and just drag the pane out. Or you could try shift-command-0, which resets the geometry.
@uranusjr thanks! That got the preview pane back.
I guess though still a bug report that the View menu item disappears and Shift-Cmd-H doesn't work after closing with the pane hidden. I imagine others besides me might be thrown by that.
This is still happening Version 0.6.4 (786)
I'm writing this in 2023 and I can't find a way to open the preview pane again. I don't want to lose my settings by deleting the cache and settings. Have you discovered a way?
