Block/Ban functionality
Users should be able to block/ban another user account. Then, if user A blocks user B:
- User B can not send private messages to user A
Can we advance the priority of this new feature? It's a very common support request by users.
Hi, Yes we could prioritize if this is becoming an issue. Let's try to better define what should be needed.
I user A blocks user B:
- User B can not send private messages to user A
- User B can not comment on sounds of user A
Then some questions:
- What happens with messages/comments that user B has already send/posted for user A? The easiest would be to leave them. A more complex thing to implement would be to hide them.
- How should user A be able to remove the ban to user B? Maybe in a new tab of the account settings page?
- How is user A able to ban other users? An option is to place a button in the user profile page "Ban this user", but this will be very negative and almost never needed. Another option is to show this button in sound comments (next to the spam report button) and in private messages.
What do you think @Headphaze @qubodup ?

I believe you should leave the message/comment. The user can simply delete the offending message/comment. It might be important to keep, just in case it was done in error, so that it's easy to see the account name for user B.

The way I imagined it was to have the unblock button appear only on user B profile page. So this button is only visible to user A after they've committed a block. This means that they don't have a constant reminder of the person they've blocked in their settings, but are still allowed to reverse if they come across the profile page. I think the only time someone will want to unblock, is if they have pressed it accidentally so this makes sense if you are not deleting the messages automatically.

I agree not to put a button always in view on the profile. The logical way is as you suggest; to have the block feature attached to the message/comment along side the report button.
...Perhaps further down the line we can expand on this feature for example, by auto deleting the messages comments as you say. Also going even further, blocking content from appearing that were uploaded by blocked user(s). Someday, perhaps.
