patient table

  1. in the patient table, it has index HOSPITALDISCHARGESTATUS and UNITDISCHARGESTATUS. it seems contradictory. as for the same patient, the UNITDISCHARGESTATUS is expired but the HOSPITALDISCHARGESTATUS is alive. why?

Sometimes data errors do occur. If it suits your use case, you may want to cross-reference these outcome data against APACHE-eligible patients in the apachepatientresult table, which has actualhospitalmortality and actualicumortality columns.

My experience is that these are much more internally consistent.
