NurseCharting vs physicalExam tables

Hi, I am comparing the GCS values derived from the script concepts/pivoted/pivoted-gcs.sql with the GCS values found in the physicalExam. However the results from the two tables are not the same;

  • Some patients have different minimum values in the two tables
  • Others may only have values in one table or the other.

Anyone has an idea why this is? And is one table more reliable than the other? Or should I consider using a combination of the two?

These tables may represent different data collection processes, so unless the values have the same offset, your observations are not necessarily inconsistent.

Documentation practices may also vary between hospitals.
