I'm assigning myself to all the ones that involve mdakits/messing with packaging, they will be a bit more work than the list here.

ok, this will also prevent others from just doing this as a quick PR; as discussed on https://github.com/MDAnalysis/mdanalysis/issues/4542#issuecomment-2028258097, these removal PRs should only happen once the next release is 3.0
