Need help with date times

Hi, everyone. I'm trying to use %datetime% to get my instance to create a new log file on each run, but I can't do it because this variable includes colons and Windows do not allow colons in file names. Is it possible to create a variable similar to "%datetime%" but without the time and only the date? I'd really appreciate a help. Thank you! P.S.: I'd really appreciate if someone could give me an example with the explanation, I'm a monkey when it comes to coding.
