Dynamic Watermarks
Explain in a few words which functionality or improvements you would like to see in Lychee. A feature that allows for placing watermarks over photos on page without actually being on/in the photo itself from like Lightroom or something. An example of this is in Synology PhotoStation it allows you upload a watermark that it then will place on top of all the photos individually but if you download the photo (if the user has the permissions) the watermark is not there giving them the actual image. This could be useful to help prevent easy useful (the person doing the illicit-ness would have to put in more work to remove watermark) screen captures as while the permission system can prevent downloading without permission it cannot prevent screen capture. While you could just put the watermark on all exported photos this prevents the ability to have a client download the final photos without the watermark if you so choose to allow them to do that without having to put separate copies up. Or if you are doing edits and getting comments from a client about what they want (so the permanent watermark is not affixed as you're not necessarily done with edits) you have the security of them not being able to just take the image without it being complete (in cases where they wouldn't get a watermark or haven't fully paid yet) or without watermark (in cases where they would receive final images with watermarks). With this having a check box for an album where it would keep the watermark on if downloaded or not could be an extra bonus as some clients or photographers overall may choose to have all photos have watermarks. This would just help the workflow of a photographer by creating one less step and helping security.
while the permission system can prevent downloading without permission
No it cannot. You can by pass it by accessing F12 and look at the source code, access the desired media.
I can see it to be added to the medium files as this would be the only ones that really matters in terms of size (small and thumbs are by definition useless to watermark and also would be ugly).

Oh well that's problematic as well..

To be clear, if the browser is showing it, the user can download it. Anything that claims otherwise is (with some DRM exceptions) lying.
