Detailed description of the problem
On the "Settings > Gallery" page, I set the default aspect ratio for album thumbs to "3/2 (landscape)". I then imported albums and images using the sync command. In the gallery root, all albums are displayed correctly with the specified aspect ratio, but at deeper album levels (everything except the root directory), the thumbs are displayed as square.
