  1. I can't download your zip file ...?!
  2. Using this https://hdrihaven.com/hdri/?h=concrete_tunnel_02 (at 16k) it takes about 10 seconds to change the gamma from 1.1 to 1.5 (on CPU). On GPU it takes about 6 seconds. No crash, never.

OS: Win10 x64 Blender: 2.91.2 LuxCore: 2.5 b1 Hardware: Intel i7-9700k; 32 GB RAM; RTX 2070

Just right-click on zip file and chose to save as target or copy and paste the zip link into the download manager. If it does not work let me know so I upload it in another place. That's the exact HDRI i used for the scene, it will happen sooner if you have a few big png textures in the scene and change their game too. https://hdrihaven.com/files/hdris/kloppenheim_06_16k.hdr It super strange you do not see any crash, because we test it on at least 5 different pc (all windows), slower pc bigger problem. The crash only happens on GPU OpenCl

Ok, got your zip - I'm not used to right-click links anymore ;-) Still, your scene, your hdri => no crash.
