Add support for new Android version

Love this add-on, but it is not available for the new Android version :(

This is not a fault of the addon. Due to a lot of addons previously marked as compatible with Android actually not having been compatible, Mozilla has made a choice to not allow users to choose which addons they would like to install in the newest Android version of Firefox. For now, there is only a fixed list of 9 addons that users can install in this version. More will be added later, they say.

Sorry for the late reply. @utucuro is correct. Mozilla has been saying for a long time, that the new Firefox beta for android will only support a few selected extensions at the start. And then they suddenly decided to publish that beta as official version and alienate pretty much anyone that used anything else than those 9 extensions.

While Forget-Me-Not is a recommended extension and thus has a higher chance of getting supported than other extensions, I can't tell you if and when this will happen.

I've been thinking about supporting the kiwi browser, since that seems to be the only other browser with extension support, but sadly it's based on a very old chromium version and doesn't seem to get any updates, so it's no feasible option either.

So, your best bet is not to update firefox, but that ship has already sailed it seems. We might be able to get it on Firefox Nightly at some point, but mozilla isn't great at doing things fast:

Eventually found out the answer, thanks for confirming. Disappointing. (oh well, back on Chrome, but that's a different story.)

There is the fennec web browser available from f-droid that is still based on the old version with the ability to install addons (and for some time): https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.mozilla.fennec_fdroid/

Just got it installed. See https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/j1ta1s/you_can_now_add_any_addon_in_firefox_nightly/g718rgb/

I haven't tried it yet, but since one of the most important APIs is still not implemented, It won't do you much good:

See: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2020/09/29/expanded-extension-support-in-firefox-for-android-nightly/

Looks like that in ff85 the browserData API has been implemented
