I fixed the build of `linux-steamos` for Arch Linux thanks to some suggestions from the AUR community: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-steamos#comment-872737

Replacing the package does not fix the problem. A `linux-steamos` package built for SteamOS will only work on pure SteamOS since it uses GCC 11 and not GCC 12 found...

I rebased the kernel to SteamOS 3.3 and it works now. Even building DKMS works (ex., NVIDIA) which did not work before.

The driver reported in the article above was never upstreamed. It was sent it, the kernel developers gave a lot of feedback, and the downstream driver was seemingly never approved...

This may be an alternative to the new "minimum" image. It could be part of the "container" image that is even more minimal (no Linux kernel, etc.)
