I followed the same steps for the Cudy TR3000, including a very similar patch for the DTS. It still doesn't work, and in dmesg it continues showing "Generic Clause 45...

Out of desperation I edited `compatible = "ethernet-phy-ieee802.3-c45";` from the DTS to `compatible = "ethernet-phy-id001c.c849";`, reverting all the other suggested changes from this issue. Now the 2.5G port works fine....

Works on a Cudy TR3000. mtk_soc_eth shows now `RTL8221B-VB-CG 2.5Gbps PHY`
