Feature request: convert 2D statics to 3D if possible

Open Jakub768 opened this issue 3 years ago • 7 comments

There are some statics which appear 2D (City of Vilcabamba level for example) and rotate when camera rotates. Would it be possible to convert them to 3D? It looks a little bit off in my opinion.

These would require 3D models to be made and injected post load.

Which we don't have.

There is photogrammetry (sp?) but we only have one angle. It would mean handmade 3D asset creation which I could work on theoretically. I do a lot of 3D modeling for work.

But ultimately it adds a question of taste for how these models look, and to please a wide enough audience with it seems rather impossible. The workload would probably also be considerable.

@rr- is it possible to quickly list the number of 2D sprites in question, just to get a feel for how many there are?

You can see that in the logs, statics: X for each level.

I'll need more explanation than that to help myself but it's fine if not

For reference, this technique is interesting, but of course still a manual job https://youtu.be/M-aVt77epQ4
