Quick idea. Instead of implementing it yourself, look at projects like [Disqus](https://disqus.com/). They probably have features like spam prevention and so on.. :)

I suppose a very long template could make do, or one fetching by name (where name includes current hour).... and then a cron/automation to update it each hour?

I am not at all sure why it would be - maybe you're looking at something that's updated and something that's not? As I read the code - it does...
