Bolus When Hypoglycemic
Attach an Issue Report Tap the Loop settings icon on the bottom of the screen, then tap Issue Report and attach it to this ticket.
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: BG 54. Confirmed with finger stick. I treated my low. I entered my carbs, and Loop recommended a bolus and allowed me to give it.
Expected behavior A clear and concise description of what you expected to happen.
I expected Loop to hold the bolus suggestion given that I was well below the glucose safety limit of 71.

Loop will recommend a dose due to expected future carbs
- Loop will not automatically bolus (or increase basal rate) when below your glucose is below the low end of your correction range
- Loop will automatically set a temp basal of zero if you are below or predicted to go below your glucose safety threshold
- Loop will allow you to manually bolus at any time, but requires an authorization step before proceeding
In your case you had already told Loop your active carbohydrate load was pretty high.
- In this case, you probably overestimated the carbs at some point - or there was an activity that caused the carbs to not hit according to predictions
- Adding more carbs for the correction was probably not necessary
- You do not need to accept the recommendation, you can always zero it out by tapping on the deliver amount
Consider the other side of the equation where glucose is low going into a meal but you still want to dose for a meal, but Loop makes no recommendation. We get many complaints on that side too.
