Stopping streaming from moonlight android app sometimes prevent any moonlight client from access sunshine further

Describe the Bug

Sometimes I stopped streaming the default app "desktop" on moonlight android app and it toasted "read timeout", then I found i can't access sunshine anymore, even on different device.

I'm not certain that if it's a bug with sunshine but everytime I encounter this a rebooting of sunshine always fixes the issue so I report it here.

Expected Behavior

stopping streaming would not prevent further connection.

Additional Context

There're some behaviors on sunshine/moonlight I noticed during the issue:

  • longpress the computer on moonlight, test button says moonlight can connect, but it showed as offline in the list
  • each moonlight are the same, of different devices
  • remove computer from android moonlight and add it again on host sunshine would produce a toast on android of "unexpected end of streamxxxxxx" (the msg is too long so it get truncated)
  • after restarting sunshine everything went back to normal

I've had the same issue, I believe this may be correlated: https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine/issues/3887 . I have the moonlight client for android, the Switch (handheld) homebrew application, and windows clients on both my PC and laptop, On the latest release, if any one device is connected, or I forget/fail to terminate the session, I lose the ability for additional devices to join, forcing me to: -physically be at my machine, -utilize other services like parsec, -or run a script to detect 'idleness' to restart the sunshine service.

I think this is related to the implementation of removing session (channel?) limits, I believe every (common, non-beta) existing client sees my device as having '1-session/channel' to connect to at a time, though the version 'v2025.118.151840', being the version i downgraded to to test, seems to still permit some cases of multiple sessions, I definitely noticed this locking-up behavior on latest.

Nothing really to add other than I have this issue as well. I wasn't exactly sure what was causing it 'till I saw this. I thought the service was crashing or something lol.

Running Sunshine Host on v2025.1027.181930, as a windows service. I can't test with another PC client atm. Formerly tested with a variable of 'channels = 3', but since this feature was deprecated in favor of unlimited channels (if it worked), I presumed it did nothing if not be a source of confusion in reporting this issue, so it's omitted from the second log. In the second log (07_20;21.log), I do the following:

1: join with phone client (Moonlight v12.1 android) (success) 2: leave with phone client 3: join with phone client again (success) 4: leave with phone client again, and quit session 5: join with phone client again (success)

I start using the switch client here, which I'll mention is outdated, & not exactly the issue with this repository, yet the result behavior from this host w/ clients older by relative weeks to months (could be 3DS moonlight client), is unfavorable when the issue persists for most of a year (not to pick nits) ~~I presume it to be up-to-date and not updated as often,~~*** there are few options in this case for switch homebrew

6: join with switch client (Moonlight-Switch v1.2.3 by XITRIX) (success) 7: leave with switch client (terminate connection) (terminate connection = quit session?, doesn't seem to differentiate from disconnecting)

8: ~~my phone no longer detects my host as 'online', prohibiting me from joining.~~ -but then does become 'online' again, after a few minutes, maybe hiccup

9: despite terminating the session from the Switch after disconnecting, and sunshine reporting both that: -the session was paused -the session was quit,

It seems like older clients (relative to host) which connect, influence the status of the windows service, possibly making it un-joinable by relatively newer clients, or there's discrepancy in how some clients deal without a reported 'channel' (session) limit.

***I found an update for Moonlight-Switch by XITRIX, v1.3.4 from last month, in the repeated instances of me trying to recreate the scenario, the issue no longer occurs. Tho I'm not positive the issue is totally resolved in all cases. I haven't ruled out PC client connection misbehavior, if from v6.1.0.

My logs might be useless, I'll try re-testing with diff settings if necessary. I acknowledge the first log file here is probably useless, and I only switched to 'debug' for the second log, which has spam.
