Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

As I read more and more comment sections from different videos in a same tab, the memory starts to pile up (similar to how live chats do).

To Reproduce

  • Load the comment section of a video
  • Minimize it using the video player minimize feature
  • Queue different videos
  • Load the comments of other videos within the same tab/player
  • Repeat this for 5 to 6 videos (with large amount of comments scrolled down)

As memory piles up, the whole browser starts slowing down due to heavy CPU usage.

Describe the solution you'd like

Clear the memory of old comments from the youtube's memory cache

Expected behavior

The CPU usage shouldn't spike up and should use comparatively lesser memory

Anything else ?

Yes. Currently, the workaround fix for piling memory due to comment sections, is to completely disable them (as someone who doesn't read or write comments most of the time). It can be achieved through extension such as Remove YouTube Suggestions > Video Player > Comments > Hide all comments.
