I don't use this app but I specifically came for icon sugggestion when I saw it on F-droid. Flat butterfly body was exactly what I was going to suggest. Floating looks like a dick.
Another small change I'd recommend would be to extend bottom part so wings come out of side instead of poking from below. Thats would give it more insect-y feel and less ambiguity.

Thanks for your feedback. Generally I like to add depth to my icons to not have just flat icons. I will consider your change for the future. Im also considering adding a new icon tor nightly releases like in 1.x but im currently not sure if i just add a DEV label like edge or do something elsd

Same here. I hate the trend google started with lollipop icons. But since I didn't know your stance on icon I only advised on improvement. If you don't mind, I can help iterate over the original floating icon and give you some mock up ideas without changing your original look.
This would be cool. I try to make my own icons and learned everything on my own, on the current butterfly icon I got help. If you want, i also have a discord/matrix server
